On October 25, the 4th 1.5°C Summit successfully concluded in Hong Kong. This summit, organized by the Invest Hong Kong of the Hong Kong SAR Government, aimed to gather global wisdom to jointly address the severe challenges of climate change.
During the summit, over 60 industry experts, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and representatives from non-profit organizations from around the world gathered to participate in six in-depth seminars and five themed speeches centered on climate change and technological innovation.
In her opening ceremony speech,Diane Wong, JP under Secretary for Environment and Ecology, pointed out that the impacts of climate change are increasingly apparent. As a coastal city, Hong Kong deeply understands the impacts brought by rising sea levels and extreme weather events. "Through technology, we can seek sustainable, scalable, and transformative solutions not only for Hong Kong but globally. The 1.5°C Summit provides a valuable opportunity for technological innovation exchanges."
In the opening forum "Technology and Community in Pioneering Climate Action," Harry Chan, Vice President and Senior Advisor of the Asia Pacific Humanitarian Emergency Rescue Organization(APHERO), delivered a speech. He elaborated on the significant impact of oceans in climate change, given the current severe global climate change situation. During the forum, Harry also engaged in in-depth sharing and exchanges with Ms. Karina Basrewan and Ms. Vriko Yu, hoping to leverage technology to play a crucial role in advancing climate action.
Facing the severe challenges of climate change, non-profit organizations should leverage their strengths and actively take action to jointly promote in-depth climate initiatives. As a non-profit organization, the APHERO will actively exert its strengths and capabilities to contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
