Biodiversity Innovation Forum-2024Successfully Concludes at HKMU

The Biodiversity Innovation Forum 2024 concluded successfully on 25 October 2024, bringing together experts, scholars, and business leaders from various fields to discuss innovative solutions for biodiversity conservation. The forum provided a valuable platform for participants to share best practices, exchange insights, and collaboratively pursue a sustainable future.

At the opening ceremony,Consul-General Mrs. Karina, delivered an enthusiastic speech as a special guest, wishing the forum a successful conclusion and emphasizing the significance of biodiversity conservation for global ecological security.

Mr. Harry Chan, Vice President and Senior Advisor of the Asia-Pacific Humanitarian Emergency Rescue Organization(APHERO), gave a keynote speech in his unique identity as the "Ghost Net Uncle," appealing to all sectors of society to start with education and jointly commit to marine conservation efforts. He also invited Zi Jian, a child suffering from muscular dystrophy, to share his experiences of diving, hoping to provide Zi Jian with more experiences and emotional support to grow up happily and healthily.

Professor RickY And his designation is VP of Ressearch and Insitutional Advancement,  elaborated on the rich connotations of biodiversity and its crucial role in maintaining the earth's ecological balance in his speech. Dr. Juan Carlos Astudillo, Assistant Professor and Marine Biologist at Hong Kong Metropolitan University, further pointed out that formulating and implementing scientific ecological strategies are essential for promoting long-term conservation of the marine environment.

In addition, Ms. Iris Lo, from Ocean Park Associate Animal Care Specialist, shared her practical experiences in protecting marine biodiversity with her deep passion for marine conservation and called on all sectors of society to take action together to safeguard the diversity of earth's species. Meanwhile, Ms. Samyuktha Sriram and Ms. Mostafa Monira Firdouse emphasized the importance of formulating and implementing effective solutions for maintaining the health and stability of ecosystems from the perspective of sustainable development.

During the forum, participants expressed that it was an extremely inspiring and valuable exchange platform where voices from various fields converged, injecting new vitality and momentum into the cause of biodiversity conservation.
